On the Island

Last summer, my best friend came with me and my family on our vacation to northern Michigan. He took several pictures throughout the trip, and I told him to send me some of his favorites out of the ones he took sometime. This past weekend, I took some of the photos he sent me, edited them a bit with PS, printed them out, matted and framed them, and gave them to him for his birthday (which is tomorrow, but eh, technicalities).

The white and black borders here show what the white matte and black frame looked like in RL. 

I also made and printed out black and white versions of these photos and gave those to him, so he can swap out the colored for B&W if he ever wants to.

I took a calligraphy pen and wrote "Mackinac Island" and "summer 2014" at the bottom of the white matte as well.

Doing all of this, from the editing, to the printing, matting, framing, and calligraphy, has really made me realize I want to do more of this in the future. I love watching the whole project come together! They make great pieces for wall art, a little bit more personalized than just printing out a photo and hanging it up.
